Based on a dual chip set architecture SiI 3124A (a succesor of SiI 3124-2) and Intel, the eSATA_PCIe8 is a extremely fast PCI Express 8x host adapter with four esATA ports fully supporting port multipliers. The eSATA_PCIe8 takes SATA performance and features to enterprise levels: massive data storage space (JBoD), high performance data transfer rate RAID 0, or high availability RAID 1. The eSATA_PCIe8 fills the of applications such as servers, workstations storage systems that require maximum performance from their storage assets. The eSATA_PCIe8 comes with drivers for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X for both RAID and non-RAID operations. Software RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1 (mirroring) are supported through Silicon Image’s SATARaid™ RAID management software utility. The eSATA_PCIe8 is designed for optimum performance with NCQ and Bus mastering technology. Multiple commands for each port are loaded into on-chip memory eliminating the need for host CPU intervention and minimizing PCI bus usage. Command execution engines dramatically reduce latency between commands, ensuring that drives stay fully loaded with queued commands.
