Dat Optic's eSATA_PCIe8 Four Port eSATA PCI Express Host Adapter brings server-class features to the desktop, with support for up to twenty SATA II drives via Port Multiplier technology.
Suports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, and 10
The eSATA_PCIe8 comes with drivers for the Windows, Linux and Novell Netware operating systems for both RAID and non-RAID operations. Software RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1(mirroring), RAID 1+0 (mirrored stripe), and RAID 5 (parity stripe) functions are supported through Silicon Image's SATARaid™ RAID management GUI software utility.
Support for FIS Based Port Multipliers
The eSATA_PCIe8 based on the SiI-3124 chip-set supports port multiplication using FIS based switching. Traditional SATA controllers only support CMD based switching which can only access a single drive at a time, limiting performance to that of the drive being accessed. The eSATA_PCIe8 accesses multiple drives simultaneously, effectively aggregating the bandwidth of all the drives.
