BOOTABLE CD INSTRUCTIONS
To use any of the bootable CDs, first insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive. Next, restart your Macintosh by selecting Restart from the Special menu. Hold down the C-key on the keyboard until the Norton CD desktop pattern appears.
If you have a third-party or external CD-ROM drive on your Macintosh, go to Control Panels, click Startup Disk, and select the Norton product CD you are using as your Startup Disk. Close the Startup Disk control panel and restart your computer.
You can tell that your computer has restarted from the CD because the Norton CD desktop pattern appears in the background. If the CD window doesn't open automatically, double-click the CD icon to open it. In the CD window, double-click the application you want to use.
When you boot from the Norton Utilities CD, you will be able to make repairs with Norton Disk Doctor, optimize with Speed Disk, recover volumes or rebuild directories with Volume Recover, and erase data or unused space with Wipe Info.
With Norton AntiVirus, you can scan for viruses while booted from the CD. If you have more recent virus definitions than those provided in the Norton AntiVirus Virus Definitions file that ships on the product CDs, you can use them when you scan for viruses while booted from the CD. Press the Option key when you open Norton AntiVirus, then locate and select the newer definitions file.
