WOODSTOCK, IL (Aug. 15, 2006) Other World Computing (OWC) has reached an agreement to be the sole provider of
Digital Technology Storage Solutions for the feature film Yesterday Was a Lie, produced by
Helicon Arts Initiative and starring Chase Masterson (Star Trek Deep Space Nine), John Newton (Desperate Housewives) Peter Mayhew (Star Wars trilogy), and Kipleigh Brown (Star Trek: Enterprise).
The science fiction/film noir feature film will utilize multiple models of OWC’s award winning Mercury Elite-AL Pro RAID storage solution for production and post-production. The Mercury Elite-AL Pro line is capable of up to 1.5 Terabytes of digital video and/or music storage via FireWire, USB, and/or eSATA connection.
The agreement with Helicon continues a growing trend of OWC Mercury Elite storage solutions being a premier choice in the entertainment industry. OWC Mercury Elite external hard drives are utilized by major feature film animation studios, as well as in television production and recording studios.
Yesterday Was a Lie is helmed by award-winning director James Kerwin (New York Independent Film Festival, Fort Worth Independent Film Festival).
The OWC-Helicon pact was negotiated by Rikki Lee Travolta, an executive level spokesperson for OWC. Travolta has over a decade of expertise in the entertainment industry, with a resume of work that includes projects in association with A&M Records, Paramount Pictures, Fender and BMG Music.
Masterson, who first achieved fame as Leeta on the popular series Star Trek Deep Space Nine, was voted the #1 Favorite Science Fiction Actress on Television by TV Guide and named one of the “50 Sexiest Women of the Year” by Femme Fatales Magazine.
Mayhew achieved international fame as Chewbacca in George Lucas’ original Star Wars trilogy, and reprised the iconic role in the series final installment: Revenge of the Sith.
Newton first burst to fame as the title character in the television series The Adventures of Superboy. He later became a regular on Melrose Place and is a recognizable guest star on Desperate Housewives and ER.
Brown is a veteran of Steppenwolf Theatre and Second City and is recognized for her work on Star Trek: Enterprise and Disney’s The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
Yesterday Was a Lie also stars Mik Scriba (Threshold), Nathan Mobley (The Other Side), Warren Davis (House) and Megan Henning (7th Heaven).
