Panther and Journaling |

I think there may be some issues with Panther and Journalling on multiboot systems. When I first started running it on my B&W G3 I was having KP's. Even when I booted off my SCSI drive with my original 10.2.8 system I was having all kinds of strange problems. The first few days with Panther I was getting 2-3 KP's a day. Since disabling Journalling the system has been solid. It may have just been a coincidence or it may just be a specific problem with the Atto UL2d card but it's something to think about when Ryan gets Xpostfacto working with Panther. |

Well, start with RAM, then the UL2D doesn't appear as supported so if you modified the firmware and updated it... My B&W using 1024MB and both ATTO UL3S and Adaptec 39160 is ROCK SOLID. I also have journaling and am gradually reformatting any OS system drives in case there are changes there (HFS Extended Journaling is an option when partitioning or erasing a volume). I just bought some new Atlas 15K and 10K-IV drives to go with Panther :-) |
