Generally, you can use 2.5" HDDs or SSDs with a 12.5mm form factor inside any "unibody" MacBook or MacBook Pro that does not have a Retina Display. Retina display models typically use proprietary blade-style SSDs and consequently do not have a traditional 2.5" SATA drive bay inside. Before purchasing a drive, please consult your Apple User Manual to verify the types of drives your Mac will support.
