When determining which connection types can be simultaneously made to your computer, it is important to distinguish between current and legacy versions of this drive. Certain legacy MiniStack models allow you to connect both the USB Hub port and a Firewire port to your computer at the same time, while others do not. See the list below for more detail.

miniStack (Original version, white plastic cover, also called "V1"):
If you want to run both USB and Firewire, you can connect the USB "Uplink" port and one of the FireWire ports simultaneously. The Uplink port uses USB Type B port. The Type A ports are the ones with the perfectly rectangular shape, while Type B has a modified square shape. Type A ports serve as "hub ports" to connect extra USB devices. This is true for any MiniStack model which has both USB Uplink and hub ports.

miniStack V2:
If you want to run both USB and Firewire, you can connect the USB Type B "Uplink" port and one of the FireWire ports simultaneously. Please see the Owner's Manual for more details on port interaction, limitations, and other tips.

miniStack V2.5:
If you want to run both USB and Firewire, you can connect the USB Type B "Uplink" port and one of the FireWire ports simultaneously. Please see the Owner's Manual for more details on port interaction, limitations, and other tips.

miniStack V3:
If you want to run both USB and Firewire, you can connect the USB Type B "hub" or "Uplink" port and one of the FireWire ports simultaneously. This version also has an eSATA port that can be connected. Please see the User Guide for more details on port interaction, limitations, and other tips.

miniStack Classic:
If you want to run both USB and Firewire, you can connect the USB Type B "hub" or "Uplink" port and one of the FireWire ports simultaneously. Please see the User Guide for more details on port interaction, limitations, and other tips.

miniStack MAX:
If you want to run both USB and Firewire, you can connect the USB Type B "hub" or "Uplink" port and one of the FireWire ports simultaneously. This version also has an eSATA port that can be connected. Please see the User Guide for more details on port interaction, limitations, and other tips.

miniStack (2012 - current version with aluminum case): this version supports only ONE connection type at a time.
