miniStack (All): Fan Noise

Over time, dust can accumulate inside legacy and current model miniStack fan housings, causing the fan mechanism to become unbalanced. This can create unusual noises coming from the fan area. The problem can often be fixed with careful use of compressed air.

Please consult the assembly manual for your specific miniStack to learn how to open and separate the cover from the chassis. Once you have successfully separated the cover and chassis, use a can of compressed air (designed specifically for dusting electronics) to remove and dust or debris that has accumulated inside the ministack, especially around the fan area. When finished, carefully reassemble the miniStack then reconnect it to its power source and the computer to see if the noise has been fixed.
