Qx2 (All): hot-swapping drives

It is possible when using one of the RAID modes to swap out a failed drive while the Qx2 power is on, however the Qx2's alarm will sound if you do this; hot-swapping is not the intended behavior. The preferred practice is to power down the Qx2 before you replace any failed drives.

For the USB 3.0 version of the Qx2, if you attempt to swap a drive out while running in Independent mode the other connected drives will unmount, possibly causing data corruption or other issues.
