OWC Dock Ejector Receives an Update

OWC Dock Ejector

OWC Dock Ejector has been the FREE one-click solution for disconnecting all devices users hook up to their computer through OWC’s award-winning lineup of desktop and travel docks for the past couple of years. For anyone on the move, OWC Dock Ejector ensures all your devices connected through your OWC dock have been safely disconnected to avoid data loss.

If you are like me and have a long list of devices connected to your dock, you inevitably have forgotten to unmount a volume, unplugged your dock, and seen the dialog box telling you that you improperly disconnected your devices. With OWC Dock Ejector, you can avoid this dialog box and the possibility of corrupted files. OWC Dock Ejector will tell you if it is safe to unplug your dock, and if not, with a simple click, the application will eject all devices connected through your OWC dock from your computer. It even lets you know when you are ready to unplug your computer from the dock and go! OWC Dock Ejector will also alert you if one of the volumes connected through your dock is still in use and tell you what program is using it.

OWC Dock Ejector also enables you to use your Apple SuperDrive with your OWC dock and provides faster charging for iOS devices and wireless Apple accessories through the High-Powered Charging Ports.

What Version 1.1.4 Brings to the Table

While Apple framed the M1 Macs as not changing much from its Intel counterpart, there were many differences under the hood. The internal representation of USB-A and USB-C devices connected through Thunderbolt docks to an M1 Mac is fundamentally different. This caused OWC Dock Ejector to not recognize USB-A and USB-C connections through our Thunderbolt dock as needing to be ejected. Dock Ejector for Mac version 1.1.4 addresses this change and correctly ejects your USB-A and USB-C devices connected to your M1 Mac through one of our OWC Thunderbolt docks.

Dock Ejector is compatible with all of our current docks, as well as some exciting new products we have on the way! But more on that in a future post. 😉
