While Outlook.com will work with Hotmail and MSN addresses, Microsoft is offering an option to <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.office.com\/b\/microsoft-outlook\/archive\/2012\/08\/03\/upgrade-from-hotmail-to-outlook-com.aspx\">change your address over to outlook.com<\/a>, an option several <em>million <\/em>users have apparently taken.<\/p>\n<p>This can be a metaphorical double-edged sword. On one hand, when you switch to a new address, you don\u2019t have to worry about getting slammed with an inbox full of junk mail offers for cheap medications and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/419_scam\">pleas from deposed Nigerian princes<\/a> to help them transfer millions of dollars for a share of the profits &#8211; or at least until spammers somehow get your email address again.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, <strong>this same switching of addresses can also prevent you from getting information that you <em>do <\/em>want.<\/strong> These include things like automatic billing notices, account alerts, and the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/shop\/macsales_newsletter\">\u201cOWC Tips n\u2019 Deals\u201d &amp; \u201cHot Deals Blast\u201d<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>mailings.
