Turns out the screen to the new iMac wasn\u2019t as easy to get into as we initially thought. But, our intrepid team, armed with suction cups, spudgers and a heat gun were eventually able to get the display removed to reveal the inside. The good news is that it appears that they&#8217;re using the same kind of SSD that they&#8217;re using in the Retina MacBook Pros, which means adding one from OWC is a simple matter, as well.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15914\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15914\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15914\" title=\"IMG_1290\" src=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG_1290.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG_1290.jpg 600w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG_1290-160x120.jpg 160w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG_1290-284x213.jpg 284w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG_1290-190x143.jpg 190w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG_1290-160x120@2x.jpg 320w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG_1290-284x213@2x.jpg 568w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/IMG_1290-190x143@2x.jpg 380w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15914\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This is where the SSD would be positioned on the higher-end model.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Update: While it appeared the Aura Pro for rMBP would work in these machines, subsequent testing has unfortuately revealed our SSD is not operationally compatible at this time.
