I checked the developer\u2019s website and it had not been updated yet. Only one day into the 10.8.4 update I wasn\u2019t counting on an update.<\/p>\n<p>I rely on this this plugin not only at home, but at work too and wanted to get it working again as soon as possible. For those of you that don\u2019t know the TruePreview plugin gives you the ability to customize when email messages are marked as read. I do not like the fact that in Mail when a message is clicked on and the preview window is up it marks the message as read. TruePreview lets me disable automatically marking messages as read.<\/p>\n<p>Having come across this incompatibility with other plugins and previous OS updates before I knew that the fix was fairly simple.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><em>A word of caution: \u00a0Apple breaks these plugins during software updates for a reason. It is typically done when the code within the application has been changed and triggers the developer to check their application for compatibility\/changes and provide an update if needed. There is no guarantee that if you do this your plugin will work or worse you could possibly destroy data, etc. Please proceed with caution.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>So how do we fix it?<\/h2>\n<p>The first task is to get the two new UUIDs for Message and Mail.<\/p>\n<p>1)\u00a0\u00a0 Open up terminal and copy and paste both lines of code individually and hit return after each.<\/p>\n<p><strong>defaults read \/Applications\/Mail.app\/Contents\/Info PluginCompatibilityUUID<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>defaults read \/System\/Library\/Frameworks\/Message.framework\/Resources\/Info PluginCompatibilityUUID<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2)\u00a0\u00a0 You should get a long code (provided below) after each command. These are the new UUIDs for Mail and Message. We will need to eventually add both of these UUID\u2019s to the plugin\u2019s \u201cinfo.plist\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2183B2CD-BEDF-4AA6-AC18-A1BBED2E3354<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>19B53E95-0964-4AAB-88F9-6D2F8B7B6037<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3)\u00a0\u00a0 Open finder and browse to the Mail folder location that resides in your user Library folder.<\/p>\n<p><em>Hint: the \u201cLibrary\u201d folder is not visible by default in 10.8.x so hit the following 3 keys (\u201cApple\u201d,\u201dShift\u201d, \u201cG\u201d) and copy and paste the text below into the window and hit \u201cGo\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>~\/Library\/Mail\/<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18938\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/plug1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"132\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/plug1.jpg 450w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/plug1-284x83.jpg 284w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/plug1-190x56.jpg 190w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/plug1-190x56@2x.jpg 380w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>4)\u00a0\u00a0 You should now see a folder called \u201cBundles(Disabled)\u201d. Under that you should see the name of your plugin folder(mine is TruePreview.mailbundle), go ahead and open that folder. Go ahead and open that up. I prefer to open it with a plist editor like the one built into xcode, but text editor will work too. Just make sure to follow the same formatting used for the previous UUIDs.<\/p>\n<p>For simplicity I will use the plist editor built into xcode. Now copy and Paste the second UUID into the next item.<\/p>\n<p>UUID\u2019s retrieved from the first step:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a02183B2CD-BEDF-4AA6-AC18-A1BBED2E3354<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>19B53E95-0964-4AAB-88F9-6D2F8B7B6037<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>9)\u00a0\u00a0 Your plist.info should now match the screenshot below with the 2 new UUID\u2019s added.
