OWC was saddened to learn earlier today of\u00a0the passing of Patrick J. McGovern<\/a>, founder of International Data Group (IDG). IDG, which publishes Macworld, TechHive, Greenbot, Computerworld, Techworld and PCWorld, is naturally reeling from the loss of McGovern, 76.<\/p>\n

\u201cIDG has lost a true visionary, and the IT community has lost one of its most exceptional citizens,\u201d<\/i>\u00a0said newly elected IDG board chairman, Walter Boyd.\u00a0\u201cPat\u2019s foremost desire was for IDG to make the world a better place through the medium of information technology. He created a unique workplace where we have the outstanding leadership team in place to ensure that the company he created will continue to grow and prosper.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

OWC has a long-standing relationship with IDG, both as advertisers and beneficiaries of the knowledge shared by its publications, especially Macworld.\u00a0IDG is also producer of the annual Macworld\/iWorld trade show that focuses on the Apple products.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe here at OWC are deeply saddened to hear the news of Pat McGovern\u2019s passing,\u201d<\/i>\u00a0said Larry O\u2019Connor, OWC founder and CEO.\u00a0\u201cPat was truly a pioneer in the industry and his presence will be missed.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
