But a few of us have no choice but to let the story free and just hope it will be favorably received.<\/p>\n<p>Bradley Jackson had the idea for a film that helped a group of University of Texas students bridge the gap between college and the cold unknown world beyond graduation, marriage, career and debt.<\/p>\n<p>The answer was the independent 98-minute, crowd-funded sports comedy, <a href=\"http:\/\/intramuralthemovie.com\">\u201cIntramural\u201d<\/a> that has been racking up awards, accolades and satisfied crowds since it was first shown early this year.<\/p>\n<p>Written by Jackson, directed by Andrew Disney, and produced by Russell W. Groves, Bradley Jackson, Andrew S. Lee and Red Sanders Intramural had its world premiere at this year\u2019s Tribeca Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p>That would be satisfying recognition for most of us but it was just the beginning for the crew and cast. At Tribeca, the hilarious game was:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treated to a red carpet event\/after party something done for less than a quarter of the feature films<\/li>\n<li>Selected by ESPN as part of their Tribeca\/ESPN Sports Film Festival<\/li>\n<li>Enjoyed by sold out crowds for all four screenings and had long standby lines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sports Illustrated wrote that \u201cIntramural\u201d was<em>, \u201c100 minutes of sidesplitting sport-movie bliss.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Producer Andrew Disney explained that a lot of the bliss was due to the creative dedication of the cast and crew and because equipment costs today are so affordable.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24148\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24148\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Intramural3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24148\" src=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Intramural3.jpg\" alt=\"Kody Gibson did most of the post producton work on the film himself,\u201d Disney noted, \u201cand the hardware\/software for the project wasn\u2019t a major expense. We simply pooled our Apple Mac Pros, notebooks, used Final Cut Pro 7 and a whole lot of Other World Computing storage products\/systems.&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Bradley added that he was surprised at how quickly 5K RAW (uncompressed) ate up storage. All of the film work \u2013 RAW, post, final cut \u2013 consumed more than 20TB of <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/shop\/firewire\/\">OWC storage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Disney said they were using nothing but <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/shop\/firewire\/\">OWC storage devices<\/a> because of the quality and reliability of <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\">the company\u2019s products<\/a>, and as every filmmaker knows, you create copies of copies of the work just in case something happens. And you have them located around the country\u2026just in case.<\/p>\n<p>That could be even more important for \u201cIntramural\u201dbecause \u201cFilm School Rejects\u201d wrote, <em>\u201cIntramural is probably destined to become something of a cult classic, thanks to both its charming cast and a series of highly quotable lines.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Following Tribeca, more than eight articles were written about the film, including items in Huffington Post and Sports Illustrated.<\/p>\n<p>Since then the film has won the Best Film Award, Hill Country Film Festival, Best Guilty Pleasure Audience Award at the Seattle International Film Festival, and sits at 80 percent on the Rottentomatoes.com chart meaning it\u2019s certified \u201cfresh\u201d by the critics.<\/p>\n<p>Movies.com, who contributes to that \u201cfresh\u201d rating, writes that there are <em>\u201cDeep, hearty, tear-soaked laughs to be found in Intramural.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMovie Buzzers\u201d went even further, saying the movie is <em>\u201cA hilarious, clever and self-aware sports spoof that\u2019s officially on its way to the cult comedy status it deserves\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Determined to strike while the iron is hot, Jackson and Disney said that they are presently in discussions to broaden the exposure of \u201cIntramural\u201d this year and see whether they can keep the cult enthusiasm going.<\/p>\n<p>It just might happen, as \u201cFilm Annex\u201d wrote, <em>\u201cEvery other line had me laughing my ass off.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Jackson, Disney and the rest of the cast\/crew aren\u2019t saying whether there is a sequel in the offing, whether they\u2019ll collaborate on another project or move their careers in separate directions.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_25289\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25289\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Intramural_Editing.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-25289 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Intramural_Editing.jpg\" alt=\"Intramural_Editing\" width=\"600\" height=\"447\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Intramural_Editing.jpg 600w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Intramural_Editing-161x120.jpg 161w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Intramural_Editing-284x212.jpg 284w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Intramural_Editing-190x142.jpg 190w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Intramural_Editing-161x120@2x.jpg 322w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Intramural_Editing-284x212@2x.jpg 568w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Intramural_Editing-190x142@2x.jpg 380w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-25289\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Several OWC drives being used for the video editing process.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But whatever they do, the young team turned their ideas into a great fun movie that continues to receive a lot of attention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lot of us have a story, an idea, a movie to be told.
