You can <em>always<\/em> use more storage space, so adding a new hard drive is something you may want to consider if you&#8217;re &#8220;feeling the pinch&#8221; of too little room.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/2751-proprietary-cable-can-put-the-brakes-on-upgrading-late-09-imacs\">unlike with the new iMacs<\/a>, upgrading the hard drive on the new MacBooks is easy to do. All you need are the right materials and the knowledge of how to perform the upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>First, you&#8217;ll need <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/shop\/hard-drives\/2.5-Notebook\/SATA\">a compatible hard drive<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll also want to have the appropriate tools &#8211; in this case, a <strong>#00 Phillips screwdriver<\/strong> and a <strong>Torx T6 screwdriver<\/strong> (both of which are available in the <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/item\/Newer%20Technology\/TOOLKIT11\/\">NewerTech 11-piece Toolkit<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>If you plan on transferring the data from your old drive, you&#8217;ll need some way of accessing it, either via a docking device like the <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/shop\/NewerTech\/Voyager\/Hard_Drive_Dock\">NewerTech Voyager Q or S2<\/a>, an <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/Search\/Search.cfm?Ntk=Primary&amp;Ns=P_Popularity%7c1&amp;Ne=8050&amp;N=6586+4294967255&amp;Ntt=enclosure\">external drive enclosure<\/a>, or a simple USB adapter, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/item\/Newer%20Technology\/U2NV2SPATA\/\">NewerTech Universal Drive Adapter<\/a>. Personally, I&#8217;d suggest the enclosure, as it lets you continue to use the old drive for <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/469-how-do-you-fit-over-45000-full-quality-photos-in-your-shirt-pocket\">other<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/465-move-the-tunes\">purposes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The final thing you need is knowledge, and that brings us back to where we came in.
