It is unclear at this point whether the SSD module in the new model will be user-upgradeable. But rest assured that OWC is diligently investigating this issue as well as working on bringing upgrades for all MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro models with module SSDs as well as iMac, Mac mini and Mac Pros!<\/p>\n

The case for module based SSDs<\/strong>
\nWhen it comes to the module based SSDs in newer Macs, there are certainly some advantages. One benefit\u00a0is simply the ease of service. If a machine goes bad, many customers have given kudos to the fact that OWC has SSD enclosures<\/a> that allow them to take a 2010-current Air or MacBook Pro with Retina display SSD out of a non-working machine and pull data, reformat the drive or do whatever is needed without the need for a functional machine.
