The company announced today that there was &#8220;unauthorized access to a Slack database containing user profile information.&#8221; In an email to all users, Slack informed users that they&#8217;ve blocked the access and made changed to their technical infrastructure to keep this from happening in the future. The team recommends, however, that you look at enabling\u00a0Two-Factor Authentication (AKA 2FA or two-step verification) for your account.\u00a0From the email:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b style=\"color: #373737\">However, we have also just released Two Factor Authentication (\u201c2FA\u201d; also known as \u201ctwo step verification\u201d) and we strongly recommend that all users enable this feature, which provides an additional layer of security for their account.<\/b><span style=\"color: #373737\">\u00a0Additional details are available in our\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"font-weight: bold;color: #439fe0\" href=\"https:\/\/slack.zendesk.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/204509068\">help center<\/a><span style=\"color: #373737\">\u00a0and you can\u00a0<\/span>enable 2FA directly on your account settings page<span style=\"color: #373737\">.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Setting up 2FA is quite easy to do; it personally took me about two minutes to get it done. You&#8217;ll need to have one of two common iOS apps that can generate the necessary random code associated with your account, either <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/google-authenticator\/id388497605?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\">Google Authenticator<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/duo-mobile\/id422663827?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\">Duo Mobile<\/a>.
