Memorial Day is, of course, a day that we have set aside to honor the thousands of individuals in the U.S. Armed Forces that have given their lives to protect and preserve the freedom that we enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also a great time to remember the contributions of organizations such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gotyour6.org\">Got Your 6<\/a>, which aims to create opportunities for veterans and civilians to join together to strengthen our communities. Got Your 6 does this by focusing on the six key pillars of veteran reintegration:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gotyour6.org\/6-pillars\/\">jobs, education, health, housing, family, and leadership<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On May 10, the organization celebrated its third year of empowering and shifting the perceptions of veterans. In honor of its anniversary, Got Your 6 outlined just some of the things that have been accomplished with the help of its sponsors and contributors.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Since 2012, Got Your 6 has issued over <strong>$4.2 million in grants<\/strong> to more than a dozen nonprofit partners<\/li>\n<li><strong>6,867,634<\/strong> hours of service have been performed by veterans in communities nationwide<\/li>\n<li>More than <strong>585,000 commitments<\/strong> were made to hire veterans and military spouses<\/li>\n<li>Housing has been provided for <strong>31,171 chronically homeless veterans<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Got Your 6 also released reports that analyze <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gotyour6.org\/how-americans-perceive-post-911-veterans\/\">how veterans are perceived by Americans<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gotyour6.org\/the-civic-life-of-veterans\/\">overall civic health of veterans<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>OWC is a proud sponsor of Got Your 6<\/strong><br \/>\nOWC is\u00a0proud to be a supporter and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gotyour6.org\/partners\/sponsors\/\">National Sponsor of \u201cGot Your 6\u201d<\/a>.
