Any IT person or consultant can tell you that one of the more difficult parts of their jobs is to manage and deploy large numbers of devices in a business. Things were hard enough when the IT department was purchasing all of the computers, but now a growing number of enterprises have\u00a0“bring your own device” policies, which means that more and more people are bringing their own Macs, iPhones and iPads to work. The MacIT Conference <\/a>is a major three-day event that provides IT professionals with the information they need to be able to be more effective at handling all of those devices.<\/p>\n

This year’s event is scheduled for July 14-16 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California. Over 70 speakers will be on hand, and there are more than 40 sessions on the agenda for MacIT. About 650 enterprise professionals are expected to attend this year’s event to hear from some amazing presenters. Arek Dreyer, an author who has written many of the third-party texts on Apple deployment that are used for certification purposes, will be bringing his expertise to the conference. Charles Edge and Chip Pearson from JAMF Software<\/a> — developers of the Casper Suite\u00a0and Bushel Apple-oriented device management tools — will be speaking. The chief client platform engineer from Facebook, Mike Dodge, will talk about how his company manages 12,000 Macs. Andrew Laurence from the University of California at Irvine will speak about virtualization.<\/p>\n

Paul Kent, the conference chair and well-known to many as the man behind the Macworld\/iWorld Conference and Expo, noted that the Application Developers Alliance will be on hand to do a session titled “The Enterprise Opportunity: How developers can capitalize on the $28 billion business of enterprise apps”. That’s a new theme at the event that will be increasingly important going forward.<\/p>\n

As with most conferences and expos, there will be a mini-exhibit that many MacIT sponsors will participate in. JAMF Software will show off Bushel and the Casper Suite, Code42 will be there with security tools, and many others like Centrify, Lantronix, Parallels, MacStadium, Filewave, Zoom and Endpoint will have their innovations on display for attendees.<\/p>\n
