\"Apple-Logo-black\"Apple has announced that it will replace 3TB hard drives in late 2012 27-inch iMacs sold between December 2012 and September 2013 that may fail under certain conditions. The replacement program<\/a> is free through Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.<\/p>\n

The replacement program covers affected iMac models until Dec. 19, 2015, or three years from the affected iMac’s original date of sale, depending on which is longer.<\/p>\n

Apple will be contacting affected iMac owners who provided a valid email address during the product registration to tell them about this program. Owners can also enter their serial number on the replacement program<\/a> page to see if it’s part of the program. Apple also is advising that customers who paid to have their hard drive repaired contact the company for a refund.<\/p>\n
