\"HomeKit\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Consumers are beginning to see the fruits of Apple\u2019s HomeKit framework as the first home automation accessories are shipping. Now Apple has added a full list of Siri commands to the HomeKit support page<\/a>, showing how users will be able to use their voices to control the accessories.<\/p>\n

As expected, there are commands for turning accessories on or off and adjusting temperatures. But there are also commands for groups of accessories \u2014 homes, zones, rooms and scenes. You won\u2019t be able to perform certain commands from a locked iPhone. This is being done for security reasons; you wouldn\u2019t want someone to pick up your iPhone and then be able to unlock your home, for example.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the list of example commands:<\/p>\n

\u2022 “Turn on the lights” or “Turn off the lights.”
\n\u2022 “Dim the lights” or “Set the brightness to 50%.”
\n\u2022\u00a0“Set the temperature to 68 degrees.”
\n\u2022 “Turn on the coffee maker.”
\n\u2022\u00a0“Turn on the upstairs lights.”
\n\u2022 “Turn off Chloe’s light.”
\n\u2022 “Turn down the kitchen lights”
\n\u2022 “Dim the lights in the dining room to 50%.”
\n\u2022 “Make the living room lights the brightest.”
\n\u2022 “Set the Tahoe house to 72 degrees.”
\n\u2022\u00a0“Set the thermostat downstairs to 70.”
\n\u2022 “Turn on the printer in the office.”
\n\u2022 “Set up for a party, Siri.”
\n\u2022 “Set the dinner scene.”
\n\u2022 “Set my bedtime scene.”<\/p>\n
