\"Apple<\/a>iOS 8.4 and its key new feature Apple Music have only been available for a little over a week, but a report out today from Mixpanel<\/a> shows that\u00a0the new iOS version is being quickly adopted by users.<\/p>\n

Mixpanel’s data shows that on June 30, 2015 — the day that iOS 8.4 was released and Apple Music officially launched — only about 3.56% of all iOS users updated their devices to the newest version. As of yesterday — July 7, 2015 — that level had reached 39.82%.<\/p>\n

As more and more iPad and iPhone users become familiar with Apple Music via the tech press and advertising, that level is bound to rise to the same level seen by all versions of iOS 8 — about 84%. iOS adoption rates are always much higher than those of competing smartphone platforms, especially Android. Only 11.6% of all Android devices are currently running Android 5.0 Lollipop, and even fewer\u00a0are running Android 5.1 at 0.8%.<\/p>\n

What’s unknown at this time is just how many people have chosen to take up Apple on its offer of a 3-month free trial of Apple Music. The music service will cost $9.99 per month after the end of the trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
