If you’re like many readers of The Rocket Yard, you love podcasts — especially OWC Radio 2.0<\/a>! That’s not surprising, as a new survey by Clammr<\/a> is showing that Apple’s iPhone rules the mobile podcast world thanks to a combination of factors. Clammr is a platform used by podcasters to create short audio show snippets that are then “broadcast” via social media as advertisements for the podcasts. The company does an annual survey to see what’s happening with podcasting, and the latest results are pretty amazing.<\/p>\n

\"Clammr:<\/a><\/p>\n

First, about the iPhone. Apple’s smartphone is used to listen to a whopping 82 percent of all mobile podcasts. Out of that group, 78 percent use Apple’s default Podcasts app to subscribe and listen to podcast, despite the availability of much more feature-packed apps such as Overcast<\/a>. That’s actually quite a no-brainer; the Podcast app is perfect for listening to podcasts, it’s easy to use, and it comes pre-installed on every iOS device. Clammr notes that the App Store also does a good job of pushing users to the native app.<\/p>\n

As for the remarkable number of iPhone users who listen to podcasts, Clammr says that it’s Apple’s vertical integration of hardware, the App Store, iTunes, and the Podcast app that make discovery of podcasts and\u00a0subscribing to them a piece of cake. Clammr’s data also shows that podcasting became more popular over the past year, but still hasn’t become widely accepted as an on-demand audio source.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
