\nEmancipation Day falls on April 15 this year. This is significant because in Washington, D.C., Emancipation Day is a public holiday. This is even more significant because it pushes the deadline to file federal income tax returns to Monday, April 18.<\/p>\n

So, combining the extra three days Emancipation Day affords you with Leap Day, you\u2019ll have four more days than a typical year to file.
