You might also have an external solution with a CD\/DVD\/Blu-ray drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At some point, there\u2019s a chance that a CD, DVD, or Blu-ray disc&nbsp;is going to get stuck in your Mac or external optical drive. Fortunately, there are some simple steps that can be taken to force eject a disc that\u2019s stuck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-default\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-first-try-one-of-these-methods\">First, try one of these methods:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hold down the eject key<\/li><li>Drag the disc icon to your Mac\u2019s trash bin<\/li><li>Right-click on the disc icon and select eject<\/li><li>Press Command &gt; E<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-default\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-next-try-this-method-to-force-eject-a-disc\">Next, try this method to force eject a disc:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Launch the terminal app and use&nbsp;the following command and then press&nbsp;enter:<br \/><code>\/usr\/bin\/drutil eject<\/code><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-default\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-if-all-else-fails-you-can-try-these-methods\">If all else fails, you can try these methods:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Boot your Mac into <a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/42126-safe-mode-single-user-mode-what-they-are-how-to-use-them\/\">single-user mode<\/a>. At the prompt enter <code>\/usr\/bin\/drutil eject<\/code>. <br \/>To restart the computer, enter &#8220;reboot&#8221; at the prompt without the quotation marks.<\/li><li>Hold down your trackpad button (or your left mouse button) and restart your Mac. Hold the button down until the desktop appears.
