Essentially, it\u2019s the locals\u2019 way of letting you know that they\u2019ll get to it when they get to it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Island time doesn\u2019t just apply to social plans; the philosophy also applies to official business. The <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cabaretekitefestival.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cabarete Kite Festival<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for example, runs literally on the island\u2019s time. Located on the Dominican Republic&#8217;s northern coast, the weeklong kiteboarding festival can\u2019t begin each day until the island\u2019s winds allow it. So, the festival starts when it starts&#8230; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, there is one crew that isn\u2019t given the privilege of operating on \u201cisland time\u201d \u2013 the media team tasked with capturing footage and documenting the festival. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/visualimagerd.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visual Image<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was on hand for all seven days of the 2018 Cabarete Kite Festival, shooting, live-streaming, and broadcasting the fest\u2019s Air Games \u2013&nbsp;and tight deadlines had to be met. In order to capture, secure and turn around footage in a timely fashion, the Visual Image team needed powerful and reliable hardware for its workflow that included <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/shop\/Thunderbolt\/External-Drive\/OWC\/ThunderBay-4-RAID5\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OWC ThunderBay 4<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/shop\/Thunderbolt\/External-Drive\/OWC\/Elite-Dual-RAID\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> solutions (pictured below) for storing the festival\u2019s data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Related:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kiteworldmag.com\/news\/kiteboarding-finally-gets-olympics-nod\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kiteboarding to become a full Olympic sailing event<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each day, the footage and images from the competition were captured and immediately ingested into the ThunderBay 4 where it was protected with RAID 5 parity thanks to the built-in SoftRAID engine.
