The built-in speakers that come with most Macs are pretty darn good, especially (or so I\u2019m told) on the iMac Pro. But if you want a high-end, expensive (about $700) set-up, you can pair two HomePods<\/a> for some intense audio.<\/p>\n

Apple says that setting up your stereo pair is easy and that \u201cwhen you set-up a second HomePod in the same room, you\u2019re prompted to form a stereo pair.\u201d That\u2019s true under ideal conditions.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s assume that you are indeed working under ideal conditions and the set-up goes smoothly. Then your two HomePods communicate with each other so that only one responds to Siri requests. If both responded, you\u2019d have a problem, of course.<\/p>\n

Even though these two speakers act as one, each HomePod communicates with the other so that only one speaker responds to Siri requests. Unless this changes with the upcoming macOS Catalina<\/a>, Apple says you can\u2019t set up a HomePod with the Home app on Mac. Instead, you\u2019ll need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch updated to iOS 11.4 or later<\/a>, HomePod speakers with iOS 11.4 or later. And your Mac needs to be running macOS Mojave. Once all your software is up to date, make sure that your iPhone and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network. Then, on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:<\/p>\n
