With macOS Catalina, Apple broke up the iTunes app into three separate apps: Apple Music, Apple TV, and Podcasts. Previously, you could connect iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches to your Mac and their icons would appear in iTunes. No longer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now that \u2014 as well as syncing \u2014 is handled entirely in the Finder. To manage your iOS or iPad device in macOS Catalina:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Connect it to your Mac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unlock your device and tap \u201cTrust.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enter your passcode when prompted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Open a Finder window and scroll down the sidebar until you see the name of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Click on the device and click \u201cTrust.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, sometimes your device may not show up even after going through<\/g> these steps. If so:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Go to the Finder and select Preferences (under the Apple icon in the top left-hand side of your Mac\u2019s screen).<\/li>
Click the Sidebar button.<\/li>
Check the box under the Locations section that reads CDs, DVDs, and iOS Devices<\/em>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

Now your connected device should appear in the Finder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
