The Live Photos feature of recent iPhones is a lot of fun. It captures 1.5 seconds of movement surrounding a 12-megapixel still image (think the \u201cmoving newspaper” photos in the Harry Potter films).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Live Photo is signified by the little concentric circle and \u201cLive\u201d text in the corner of the picture. If you want to play the video portion of a Live Photo in macOS Catalina, here\u2019s how:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To Play a Live Photo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  1. Open the Photos app.<\/li>
  2. Open any album where a Live Photo is contained.<\/li>
  3. Open any Live Photo by double-clicking on it.<\/li>
  4. Click the Live Photo button (most likely located at the top left of the photo) to play the video portion of the picture.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    You can turn your Live Photos into fun videos you can share. You can click Loop for continuous action, or jump backward and forwards with Bounce. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Or choose Long Exposure to create a still photo with a cool blur effect. If you snapped a Live Photo, but someone is blinking, you can change the still image. Just click a frame under the photo, then click Make Key Photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Edit a Live Photo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    1. Find the Live Photo you want to edit and select it.<\/li>
    2. Click the Edit button at the top right of the photo.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Now look at the bottom (right side) of the photo. You\u2019ll see a pop-up menu that says \u201cLive.\u201d Click it and you can choose from Loop, Bounce, or Long Exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      These instructions apply, for the most part, to other versions of macOS besides Catalina. However, I\u2019m using Catalina on a 16-inch MacBook Pro for this tutorial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
