I love it when I just happen to stumble across something my iPhone can do that I didn’t know it could do. Even more so when what it can do is something cool!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was recently scrolling through my Control Center settings researching some accessibility options for a potential blog piece. For the first time, I noticed something called “Music Recognition<\/strong>.” Interesting… I added the option to see what it would do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whoa. Once added to my Control Center, I noticed a familiar logo in button form:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, this should not have surprised me, as Apple acquired the music recognition app in 2018 for a reported $400 million<\/a>. But what did surprise me was that Apple integrated the Shazam functionality directly into iOS<\/em> last fall. That’s right \u2013 you don’t even need to have the app installed for it to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, What is Shazam?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When you hear a song on the radio, blaring from your next-door neighbor’s house, or even playing on your iPhone, launch Shazam, and it (almost) instantly identifies it for you. It does this by creating a unique digital fingerprint and matches what you hear with one of the millions of songs in the Shazam database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
