Be aware that it could take hours to complete.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-to-do-if-you-can-t-find-your-mac\"><strong>What to do if you can\u2019t &#8220;find&#8221; your Mac<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I say the erasure procedure \u201cshould\u201d start. And it almost certainly will if or when the stolen Mac goes online. However, if you can\u2019t \u201cfind\u201d your Mac, you have a problem. If this is the case, here are the steps Apple recommends in a <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT204756\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">support document<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT201355\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Change your Apple ID password<\/a> to prevent anyone from accessing your iCloud data or using other services (such as iMessage or iTunes) from your Mac.<\/li><li>Change your passwords for other accounts you use with your Mac, including email, banking, and social media sites like Facebook or Twitter.<\/li><li>Report your lost or stolen Mac to local law enforcement. They might request the serial number of your computer.
