But with it came the need for AUX cables that did not come with the machine. Never fear. You know it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.owcnow.com\/image\/upload\/w_600,c_scale,f_auto,q_auto\/owc-accelsior-4m2-top-square\" alt=\"OWC Accelsior 4M2 PCIe card\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\"\/><figcaption>OWC Accelsior 4M2 PCIe card<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The one thing missing? Power\u00a0cables.\u00a0You see, Mac Pro has internal connectors to supply auxiliary power to your PCIe devices. However, the\u00a0cables necessary\u00a0for this\u00a0were not included with the machine. Not all cards require auxiliary power though\u00a0as\u00a0each\u00a0PCIe slot\u00a0directly provides 75W.\u00a0 This is why\u00a0our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/shop\/ssd\/owc-accelsior-4m2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Accelsior\u00a04M2<\/a>\u00a0is fully powered by the PCIe slot itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, a graphics card or\u00a0high-end\u00a0AJA video capture card\u00a0may require\u00a0additional power.\u00a0Apple gives some details about the Mac Pro in this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/mac-pro\/pdf\/Mac_Pro_White_Paper_Aug_2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">white paper<\/a>. In it they mention:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Mac Pro provides four 8-pin auxiliary (AUX) power connectors that each provide 150W of power, for a total of 600W of AUX power. This power is in addition to the 75W of power provided directly by each PCIe slot. Combined, up to four 225W graphics cards can be installed in Mac Pro, each in an x16 slot with a total power of 900W.
