It\u2019s especially easy to use if you are new to video editing. And if you use an iPhone, many of its features will feel familiar. If you use iCloud, your videos should already be synced to your <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT204264\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Photos app<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Launch iMovie.<\/li><li>Click the large plus (+) icon to create a new project.<\/li><li>Click Movie. iMovie opens your Photos library.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Reuben-iMovie-Fig1.jpg\" alt=\"Click Movie to open your Photos library\" class=\"wp-image-81968\" width=\"335\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Reuben-iMovie-Fig1.jpg 447w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Reuben-iMovie-Fig1-112x120-1.jpg 112w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Reuben-iMovie-Fig1-284x303-1.jpg 284w, https:\/\/eshop.macsales.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Reuben-iMovie-Fig1-178x190-1.jpg 178w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 335px) 100vw, 335px\" \/><figcaption><em>Click Movie to open your Photos library<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\"><li>In the search field, type <strong>Video<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>This will reveal the Video album in your Photos app. Here you\u2019ll see the movies that you\u2019ve shot on your iPhone that have synced with iCloud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t use iCloud, just connect your iPhone to your Mac with the cable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-creating-your-first-imovie-video\">Creating your first iMovie video<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, you\u2019ll add video clips to your timeline&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/guide\/imovie\/play-or-skim-video-movfa0af02f6\/mac\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Skim<\/a> the mouse cursor over your footage by floating your playhead, or Skimmer, over each clip.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Once you have identified a section that you want to use, skim to the first frame of that section and press I. \u201cI\u201d stands for <em>In Point<\/em>. That\u2019s the beginning of the clip you want to insert into your project.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Skim to the end of the clip that you want to use and press O with your cursor on the frame that you want to end on. \u201cO\u201d stands for <em>Out Point<\/em>. You\u2019ve edited your first video clip with iMovie.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeat this process for each clip you want to add: I for the in point, O for the out point, and E to append it to the end of the video.
