Recently, my six-year-old granddaughter was using my iMac (as I\u2019ve learned the hard way, this isn\u2019t a great idea). When she was finished \u201cwriting,\u201d my macOS Monterey Dock<\/a> had disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, actually, it hadn\u2019t disappeared. However, instead of staying visible at the bottom of my iMac\u2019s screen, it would appear only when I moved my mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen. It would vanish when I moved the mouse cursor setup. Some folks like this implementation, but I don\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Setting up macOS Monterey Dock Preferences<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You can set up your Dock’s Preferences<\/a> with these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Go to the Apple logo (\uf8ff) on the top left of your Mac\u2019s display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Go to System Preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Click Dock & Menu Bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. If “Automatically hide and show the Dock” is checked, deselect the checkbox next to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That will, in theory, fix it. However, I had to restart my iMac to make the change take effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are you in Full-Screen mode?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve done this and the Dock still won\u2019t stay visible, make sure you\u2019re not in Full-Screen mode<\/a>. When in Full-Screen mode, the current window will cover your Dock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To exit full-screen mode, move your cursor up to the top of your screen. The top Navigation Bar will reappear, along with the red and green buttons for Close and Full-Screen.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click on the green Full-Screen button to go back to the normal view, and your Dock will reappear.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
