The purpose-built workstation is turning heads both inside and outside the fold of Apple devotees thanks to a robust (and frankly un-Appley) inclusion of I\/O on both the front and back of its small aluminum enclosure, and the latest iteration of Apple\u2019s in-house silicon, the M1 Ultra\u2014a chip the company calls \u201cthe most powerful chip ever in a personal computer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The M1 Ultra brings monstrous amounts of horsepower. But it\u2019s spec checkboxes like support for up to five displays and the playback capability for up to 18 streams of ProRes 422, 8K video that quickly explain why this Mac lives up to the \u201cStudio\u201d in its name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the moment it was announced at Apple\u2019s \u201cPeek Performance\u201d event in March, we knew we had to get our hands on this thing. And with the Studio delivered safely into our OWC Studio, our buddy Brady got to work, digging into this machine\u2019s deepest, darkest secrets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class='youtube-player' width='1170' height='659' src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LBX1ijxT_ys?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent' allowfullscreen='true' style='border:0;' sandbox='allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation'><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Featured in the video above is the M1 Max model of the Mac Studio specced thusly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>10 core CPU<\/li><li>24 core GPU<\/li><li>64GB of RAM<\/li><li>512GB of storage<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the video above, Brady gives you the unboxing experience (The way the box opens like a blossoming flower? &#x1f924;) and runs a set of performance benchmarks. He also performs a full teardown of the machine, giving you an up-close look of all the interesting design aspects that make the Studio such a powerhouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Brady points out, there is an abundance of connectivity capability on this machine, including six Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, and that beautiful SD card slot.
