Before macOS Ventura, you could lock notes with a special passcode, which, when forgotten, could be a pain in the butt. But with the latest rev of the operating system, things are simpler: you can now secure any note with the device password or Touch ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The previous way<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
But first let\u2019s look at the previous method using passcodes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b0 Open the Notes app and go to the menu bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b0 Click Notes \u2192 Settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b0 Choose an account beside Locked notes if you have multiple accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b0 Enter a password in the password field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b0 Enter it again in the Verify field. Add a hint if you wish to help you remember the password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b0 At the bottom of the pop-up mention, you\u2019ll see a \u201cLocked notes\u201d option and choices for using a login password, changing the password, and Use Touch ID<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b0 Click \u201cUse Login Password\u201d and follow the prompts to set up a password. You can always change the password later by using (d-uh) \u201cChange Password.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To enable Touch ID to use your fingerprint to view locked notes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b0 Toggle on the Enable Touch ID box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b0 Click the box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b0 Enter the login password for your Mac to enable Touch ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b0 Control-click on the note you want to lock or unlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
