On X earlier today Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted the following tease<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video included with the tweet flashes the words “There’s something in the Air.” Beyond the word “air” being emphasized in all caps, this quote is not just a clear indicator that Apple will be unveiling its new MacBook Air this week, it’s also a direct reference to the quote that teased the reveal of the very first MacBook Air back in 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to expect from the new MacBook Air<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new MacBook Air set to be unveiled later this week will likely be powered by Apple’s latest system on a chip, the M4. It’s expected to be available in 13- and 15-inch screen sizes and, according to 9to5Mac<\/a> “will come with several notable upgrades for MacBook Air users.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rumored upgrades include raising the max amount of available RAM from 24GB to 32GB, faster memory bandwidth, two additional CPU cores, and an improved 12MP Center Stage camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The M4 MacBook Air is also expected to offer improved support for external displays. While the current M3 MacBook Air is capable of powering two external displays at once, doing so requires the lid of the laptop to be closed. The new M4 model is expected to be able to support two external displays while maintaining use of the built-in display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
