I opted to max ram at 16G and put in an SSD. This thing is zippy as I'll get out. Buying used especially with Apple products from OWC is always a safe bet, in my experience. The products work and Apple builds things that last. OWC does a great job getting these things and offering them at a great price.

I'm so glad I opted for the SSD, I think I'm going to have to buy some for a couple of desktops that just can't keep up anymore. This will give them at least another 5 years.

Rating: 5/5 A perfect update for my laptop September 12, 2018 I had an aging and deteriorating 2010 13" Macbook Pro, that I was carrying with me all the time to do word processing, personal and business finances, email, photo management, web surfing, etc. I wanted to get something very similar but with more memory, larger HD, better condition, etc. I still wanted USB and Firewire 800 interfaces, and a superdrive. I ended up selecting a very similar reconditioned 2012 Macbook Pro, with 16 Gig RAM and a 1 TB HD from OWC, It was listed as good condition and I found one extremely minor dent in the case. The tradeoff was that the price was extremely reasonable. The Macbook is working flawlessly, I had to do a few software updates as I was also moving from OS-X 10.6.8 to 10.12.6, but the transition was mostly painless and the new computer is noticeably zippier, especially online. It also resolved all the compatibility issues I was having from using such an old OS. This is the third reconditioned Mac I've purchased from OWC. I have never regretted buying reconditioned for a second, and I can't imagine going back to the expense and frustration of buying new computers, which are so often stripped of the very features I have come to rely on. I am very happy with my purchase and with OWC!
