Rating: 1/5 Now I know. July 12, 2015 I always wondered why the Apple Magic Mouse stopped being advertised. Now I know. It is by far the neatest looting and worst working mouse I have ever had. In their effort to make the mouse so streamlined, the engineers took away its usability. The lack of a scanning rotator on top makes it much too sensitive to use. You just can't hold it in your hand still enough to keep it from moving the page on the screen. It causes whatever you are doing to jump all over the screen, and the only way to stop that is to put the mouse down, so that it doesn't sense your fingers on top. What a shame. Even though I paid less than the original price for a used mouse, I still feel that I paid too much. Put this down to one of Apple's rare misses.

Rating: 2/5 Ergonomically Great, Technologically Challenged May 27, 2015 From an interface point of view, the Magic Mouse a well-designed and powerful product. Though it takes a bit to develop the habits to avoid using gestures on the mouse surface accidentally, it's a worthwhile time investment. The Magic Mouse was introduced about 5 years after the Apple Wireless Keyboard. As a user of the keyboard, I expected a similar product. and one that benefited from the keyboard's experience with battery-life and connectivity, but in this area the mouse falls quite short. While a set of batteries runs for 2 to 3 weeks on a charge in the keyboard, the mouse drains them in 2 to 3 days. What's worse, while the keyboard connects seamlessly to my MBP, the mouse takes a minute or two to become recognizable, and then almost always has to be connected manually on the taskbar. Corresponding with tech support on this issue resulted in advice to try different batteries, which I did with the same result, so it looks like this is just the way these mice run.

Basically, the mouse feels very good to use, but the battery life is atrocious and the connectivity is not good. To use it, I keep a spare set of (3000mAh NiMh) batteries on a charger on my desk, so I can be ready to swap when I see the Low Battery warning, pretty much every other day.
