AudioQuest

DragonTail
USB 2.0 Extender

Mac / PC / USB 2.0
Compatible with USB 1.1
DragonTail is a USB extender for use when a USB device (such as AQ's DragonFly or a Flash Drive) is too large to fit next to other occupied computer ports. DragonTail's flexibility also makes it safer to use USB devices on airplanes and in other mobile environments.

Because audio performance must never be compromised in any application, DragonTail's crucial design elements are shared with Carbon digital-audio interconnects, including solid 5% silver conductors, foamed-polyethylene insulation to maintain critical signal-pair geometry, and direct-silver plated (male) USB contacts. DragonTail's signal-carrying conductors are controlled for digital-audio directionality for more engaging, "3D" sound. Like all AudioQuest cables, components and accessories DragonTail is designed and manufactured for low distortion and maximum performance.

Rating: 4/5 USB 3.0 Extender vs. USB 2.0 Extender January 10, 2017 Just got this extender and plugged it in for first use, so I cannot comment on its durability. What I can comment on right away is that OWC is advertising it as a "USB 3.0 Extender," which is not true. The package clearly states on the box that it is a "USB 2.0 Extender." I don't know why this is the case, but it clearly is.

That said, I am not certain what difference it makes when it comes to a simple cable extender. Seems to me that it does not contain any kind of electronics beyond just wires that move the USB port out away from your computer. Not sure why USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 would even apply. I DO know that sometimes resistance plays a role in computer component functionality, so MAYBE USB 3.0 has some different kind of tolerances for cables that are backward compatible for USB 2.0, which are not forward compatible from USB 2.0. Maybe!

I plugged it into my OWC Envoy Pro-mini 240 GB flash drive and it seems to perform the same as it was when plugged in directly to the USB port, so I suspect it's all good.

Anyway, I think OWC should fix the product title and information and also clarify if they mean the cable is forward compatible with USB 3.0, if, in fact, that is the case.
