Rating: 5/5 Wow! April 6, 2015 We got a refurbished MacBook Pro 2012 and installed Yosemite. Extremely disappointed at performance. Tried all the fixes and fiddles, but not much better. Got tired of that finally and figured a SSHD would surely improve performance at least to acceptable. We also added 16 GB memory (up from original 4 GB.)

Wow! It went from not much better than a brick to a lap rocket! I was and remain astounded.

Rating: 4/5 Large SSD @ great price April 5, 2015 I purchased one for myself with USB3 mercury on the go enclosure. Perfect combo. I was trying to justify a thunderbolt enclosure, did some research, and for my needs the reviews I studied, paid off. I needed a large 1 TB external enclosure to boot to my MB pro or MB Air to record music with Logic Pro X and NI Komplete 9 installed w/ OS 10.9. Start up on the USB3 mercury with the Crucial 960GB is quick enough. I can now run Logic Pro X with most of my tracks unfrozen and have a good amount of plug-ins running with no stalls or failure dialogs, which I couldn't do with a similar setup with a spinning 5400 rpm drive. I'm a very satisfied customer for the aforementioned setup, and the pricing was way below anything else for the power. Been running almost two months now. Bought the same setup for my son who is also a musician. He uses Ableton Live and is also very satisfied.

Rating: 5/5 Fast March 23, 2015 Used this to replace an original hard drive on a 2007 iMac. Speed bump is incredible - like a brand new Mac for 25% of the price. The OWC install video was clear an invaluable - could not have done it without he great directions.

Rating: 5/5 Affordable Upgrade for older Mac March 13, 2015 I am trying to extend the life of my 2008 MacPro. This was a reasonable way to increase performance. The drive was easy to install by using the OWC Drive Adapter.

Rating: 5/5 Great SSD at a great price March 2, 2015 While I have no complaints about this Crucial SSD, I do have one with OWC and the lack of information that this drive is bulk packaged and not in the original Crucial box with the 9mm adapter. That information should of been listed with this item.

Rating: 5/5 One of the best upgrades I have ever done March 1, 2015 My Macbook is much faster now. Will be doing the same to my iMac. Yosemite made support for TRIM enable less than ideal but so far so good. I may have considered getting the black magic unit but didn't know about it when purchase was made.

Very happy with this purchase.

Rating: 5/5 Really increased the speed of my old Macbook Pro 17" February 28, 2015 I bought this for my 2009 17" Macbook Pro. I had foolishly upgraded to Mavericks and it slowed down my system terribly. Just didn't have the processor power and RAM needed for that OS. Before going back to the previous OS I thought I would upgrade to this SSD. What a great choice! Boot up time is so quick I couldn't quite believe it. The drive also sped up my system as this drive is used for virtual memory for the OS.

Very happy purchase and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Rating: 5/5 Great value February 26, 2015 If you read all the reviews you'll learn there are plenty of newer, faster, better SSDs available. But the M500 is the best value around (especially when you can grab it during an OWC special). I upgraded by MacBook Pro, 2GHz Intel Core i7, swapping out the stock 500GB HD. Startup times are about five times faster, Finder windows open and populate in the blink of an eye, and in general, it feels like I have a brand new computer. I didn't learn about the firmware upgrade until a few weeks after I was up and running with all my files transferred, but the upgrade process was quick, easy and flawless. (Google M500 firmware upgrade). All in all, installing the M500 was a tremendous improvement to my system, and even if the newer better SSD's would be faster and offer other advantages, this upgrade makes the most sense if you want a substantial performance improvement but don't want to spend a lot of money upgrading a laptop that's several years old.

Rating: 5/5 MBP Pro Is fastest it has ever been with 960GB Crucial / Micron M500 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s 7mm SSD (MLC) February 21, 2015 I knew adding a flash drive would enhance performance and I talked with the OWC staff to find the best fit and they came though. The drive went in perfectly and performs perfect.

Rating: 4/5 good for the price February 14, 2015 I installed this in place of my dvd I used the data doubler. The only problem is if you need to update the firmware after you install this in the dvd drive you need to have an internal dvd/cd drive in order to update the firmware of the drive. So check to make sure it's the latest firmware before removing your dvd/cd drive a.k.a. superdrive. I used this as my second drive in my mac and used the OWC 6g drive as my startup drive.
