About two years ago, I purchased the IOGear Bluetooth USB Adapter GBU321 from Other World Computing, after the Apple Bluetooth module was not working out with my 2007 Mac Pro.
After removing the Apple Bluetooth adapter, I had to clear the perimeter RAM and remove some system files and run some Terminal app commands to get the 2007 Mac Pro to recognize and use the IOGear adapter. Running a clean install of Mac OS on a reformatted drive is the other way to get the Mac Pro to accept the third party USB Bluetooth adapter after removing the internal Apple Bluetooth module.
It turned out that going with a third party USB bluetooth adapter is the only way to go. Going this rout made the control on the Apple Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad superbly perfect without fail.
My 2009 Mac Pro came with the newer Apple Bluetooth Module installed. Still, the control quality was unacceptable with my Apple Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad. Before I clean installed Mac OS on the new boot drive drive, I removed the power cable from the 2009 Mac Pro Apple Bluetooth module but, left the Apple Bluetooth Module attached to the motherboard and Bluetooth antenna. Then I reformatted the Internal Boot Drive and installed Mac OS. The IOGear USB Bluetooth adapter once again provided perfect control of my Apple Mouse and Trackpad.
The IOGear Bluetooth USB Adapter GBU321, from Other World Computing, is the preferred choice because it has a stronger signal and faster data speeds. Also Other World is the preferred vendor to buy this product from since they provide great support after the sale, if you have issues getting this adapter to work out. Thank you, Other World Computing!
