Rating: 5/5 Mechanical HD to SSD - Seamless & Simple November 15, 2016 OWC has got their world class support down to a science. Strongly recommend that the user first map out, step by step, how they plan to make the transition beginning obvioulsy with a complete back up of their hard drive. Since SSD's come unformatted, users owe it to themselves to learn the procedures in advance by anticipating next steps. Take your time - slower is better and utilize OWC's instructional video on a tablet/smartphone pausing it as you proceed through the process. I used Time Machine for my back-up and reinstall. My mid 2007 iMac with maximum memory and now a 4GB SSD should get me at least another few years before shelling out thousands for a new computer.

Rating: 5/5 6 GB upgrade for mid-2007 iMac May 9, 2016 This 4GB memory upgrade (replaced a 2GB module) breathed some new life into this 8 year old iMac. Latest OS upgrade seemed to increase memory pressure (displayed with admin app), so more memory was indicated. Easy as pie - recommended product ordering at OWC, fast delivery, and easy install. Price is high for a 4GB module - price you pay for access to obsolete memory technology.

Rating: 5/5 Very Satisfied Customer April 27, 2016 I don't write many reviews, as I feel it the responsibility of the companies to advertise. However, I had to make an exception for MacSales. I bought memory for my (now ancient by computer age standards) 2008 MacPro about seven years ago and never had a problem until last month when one RAM chip went bad. I tried to find my original email receipt, but couldn't locate it. Thinking it would be a lost cause, I contacted MacSales (or OWC-as they were called when I purchased the RAM long ago) and immediately got a response asking me for the serial numbers of the chips and my MacPro model. I snapped a picture of the chips, with the serial numbers and OWC info. The very next day, I got an email with a return authorization number and an address to send the chips (they came in pairs) to. I sent them off and not more than a week went by before I received two brand new RAM chips. Having a company that honors warrantees as quickly and honestly, even from a purchase from seven years ago, deserves a review letting others know of my recommendation and support for this stellar company. Thanks MacSales!

Word of warning for UK customers. It was held at UK customs for 10 days and I was charged 21% VAT which had to be paid before they would release it.

Rating: 5/5 Works Perfectly April 3, 2016 This is what my laptop needed for a speed boost. The installation could not have been easier, thanks to the superb tutorial on the OWC website. The old adage: "buy as much memory as you can afford," is certainly true. There was never an issue with this upgrade; it has worked perfectly from the start.

Rating: 5/5 Reasonable price, reliable, free shipping March 28, 2015 I've used OWC memory for all our Macs over the years. It always works and is reasonably priced. The USPS free shipping arrives promptly. This order was no exception. More memory and now I'm ready for an upgrade to Yosemite. The on-line sales / chat folks have always helped in matters of mixing & matching different memory modules sizes for each model.

Did I mention the free shipping ;^)

Rating: 5/5 Can't beat more memory February 6, 2015 I thought, and Apple claimed, my 2007 iMac's memory maxed at 4GB, but recently OWC's webpages said 6. Strange. I had 2+2, purchased at OWC 7 years ago, and was informed I could replace one of the 2's with a 4. I was frequently running into slowdowns because of memory limitations, so bought the 4GB module, followed the easy installation directions and now have 6. Yosemite is supposed to be better at memory management, something I have doubts about. In any case, I'm pleased with the expanded memory.

Rating: 5/5 Mid 2007 iMac (Alu) Reborn November 25, 2014 I thought it was time to buy a new Mac, due to its sluggishness. Wrong!

Adding 4GB of RAM and replacing the 5400 rpm HD with an SSD has breathed new life into it. To quantify; opening Adobe Photoshop took 1:00, but now takes :05. InDesign? From 2:00+ to about :10. Illustrator? From 1:30 to about :07. Booting up went from 3:00+ to about :30.

This indicates that the main bottleneck for computers is mechanical HDs, which appears to be a little-known secret. Save your money and invest in these upgrades...you'll be thrilled with the results!

Rating: 5/5 RAM Upgrades Are Recommended October 18, 2014 First, let me brag on OWC. They are HIGHLY beneficial and their assistance has on numerous occasions not only helped me reach a decision, but done so efficiently, courteously and informatively. Now, I purchased the 4gig RAM stick for my MacBook Pro 3,1 and it has performed very well. It is an odd pairing in that it isn't a "matched" pair, as my MBP came with 4 gigs of RAM preinstalled in the form of 2x2gig sticks. So, now that I'm running 6gigs in the form of one 2gig (Apple) and one 4gig (OWC) stick I no longer am able to achieve "128-bit memory addressing." Initially, this was a concern as I wondered what adverse effects, if any, this might have on my laptop. Through multiple chats with OWC employees I was able to assuage any concerns in that the benefit of having more RAM (2 extra gigs in this case) would outweigh any performance loss from running a "mismatched" pair. So, that was my conclusion, and it has proven to be true. Boot time and overall application responsiveness have increased, enough for me to recommend the upgrade. The only negative I can possibly cite is that this upgrade, albeit not officially endorsed by Apple since they state that maximum RAM for a MBP 3,1 is only 4 gigs, causes the fans on my unit to operate more often than they do when the 4 gigs I used to have were installed. This translates into a marginally "hotter" unit on the underside of my laptop. But that's all. Just a heat increase that makes fans run a bit more often. Bottom line, I am VERY supportive of OWC as they have been VERY supportive to me. :)

Response from MacSales.com, Executive October 20, 2014 Thanks for the review. Note that the slight heat increase is not likely from the memory itself but from the Mac now working harder, putting more processor cycles to work since as it now has the additional memory to utilize and complete tasks faster with.

Rating: 5/5 Perfect match for OWC 2GB + 2GB Upgrade August 30, 2014 The 2=2 worked great on my mid-2007 iMac and handled Mavericks but it felt like I was running on empty so I opted to add the pricier 4GB memory.

I was holding my breath to be honest since it wasn't the 2GB + 4GB kit.

It works perfect! It's been tested and retested and the match was made in digital heaven. Worth the cost since now I can open Logic Express, Safari, Pages, and Garage band and still have room to move.
