Slot-loading Slim Internal Blu-ray Burner

This slim Blu ray writer is best for Mac laptops and Windows notebooks to read and write single and dual layer Blu ray, DVD and CD media. It utilizes a slot-load drive mechanism which means no external moving parts.

UJ-265 uses Slimline SATA, the connection type for the latest generation of Blu-ray writers.

Rating: 3/5 It worked great, and..... July 26, 2017 it lasted a bit over a year. Not really heavy use, but I did rip audio CDs with it. A few dozen over the life of it. Sadly, tho, the unit died. It was a mechanical failure, the little metal tab that holds CDs in is stuck in the close position so you cannot insert a disc. This limits the usefulness of the drive. ;-) Macsales tech support helped me troubleshoot, but the patient was terminal and out of warranty. I bought a new drive from Macsales and all is well.

Rating: 5/5 It just worked!! August 24, 2014 I bought this drive for my 2011 27" iMac and had no problems installing it. I already had Toast 11 installed as I had used the software for the drive that the iMac came with. No problem with anything...It just worked!! You will still need a Blu-ray player but there are free ones out there.
