Rating: 5/5 Imac Barracuda drive August 3, 2018 I ordered this drive when the original HD in my iMac 27 failed. After carefully taking the iMac apart, I found the HD was a Seagate BarraCuda 3.0 TB 7200 RPM drive configured as an Apple Fusion drive. Rather than having Apple charge for their repair, I decided to order another HD from OWC. Rather than order the original 3.0 TB drive, I elected to buy the 4.0 TB drive. The HD arrived in two days very well packaged to protect it from shock during transit. After letting it cool down to room temperature I installed it in the iMac along with the temperature sensor provided in the iMac repair kit ordered previously. Connecting all the cables, I carefully closed the iMac without the screen adhesive using wide blue tape instead. The objective was to confirm all was well with the HD and iMac before formalyl sealing up the case with the adhesive strips. Powering the iMac on, it booted to a screen that allowed me to use the HD utility to partition the HD and repair it so the Fusion drive was correctly configured. All was well. I then downloaded the latest macOS and again all was well. The performance was excellent and the drive was very quiet with no fan noise in the iMac. It took the iMac a few minutes to adapt to the new drive configuration and during this time the fans were running at full speed and very noisy as would be expected. Then it reverted to an almost silent operation and was once again well behaved like its original capabilities when new. The new HD seems to be another good Seagate product.
