Adobe PhotoShop 7 test using both Mac OS 9.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.1.4. Shorter bars are better. This test was performed using the internal video ONLY - No 3rd party graphics card was installed.
Test was performed as follows -
- Automatic script set up to open a 1600x1200 72 dpi image.
- Increase resolution to 600 dpi.
- Convert from RGB to CMYK.
- Rotate canvas 180 Degrees.
- Apply a Gaussian Blur filter at 3.0 pixels.
This yeilds an approximately 100 MB test file. Adobe Photoshop was set to a 100 MB memory partition in Mac OS 9.2.2, Mac OS X dynamically allocates memory and therefore was not adjusted other than it's default settings. Performance can be enhanced even further with the addition of more physical RAM.

Quake 3 performance testing using Mac OS 9.2.2. All settings were standard default HIGH quality, 32 bit. Be sure to note that the performance of the video card did not drop off using 1280x1024 resolutions. This indicates that the video card had not even reached it's saturation point and could have even gone further (although the 17" monitor could not)!

Quake 3 performance testing using Mac OS X 10.1.5 All settings were standard default HIGH quality, 32 bit. Note that gameplay has come of age using Mac OS X! It holds it's own right with Mac OS 9! Also, onboard video was not tested as Quake is not playable using the built in ATI video.
