Extremely powerful and easy to set up and use, AirPort Extreme offers the perfect wireless solution for home, business or school. Using the 54 Mbps IEEE 802.11g wireless standard, it delivers data rates nearly five times faster than the 802.11b standard. The AirPort Extreme Base Station serves up to 50 Mac and Windows users simultaneously. And it comes complete with all the connectivity you need — including ports for a DSL or cable modem or a local area network, a USB port — to create the wireless world of your dreams.

Wireless Extreme
With AirPort Extreme, you can create a turbocharged wireless network accessible to both Macs equipped with the AirPort or AirPort Extreme Card and Wi-Fi-compliant Windows PCs, as well as other network devices like printers. A single AirPort Extreme Base Station allows up to 50 Macs and Windows PCs to connect wirelessly to each other and to the Internet. And because it employs the 802.11g wireless standard, you never have to worry about compromised data rates — AirPort Extreme gives you blazing connectivity speeds up to 54 megabits per second.

Imagine the possibilities. Access the web and email from just about anywhere in your house or office. Exchange large files with colleagues without being tied to a desk or concerning yourself over slow connection speeds. Wirelessly share a printer with everyone in your family or on your office floor.

You can also extend the range of your network through wireless bridging. With wireless bridging, one AirPort Extreme Base Station communicates wirelessly with another AirPort Extreme Base Station that has a physical Internet connection to increase your wireless network area. No need to deal with the expense or inconvenience of additional cables.

Wireless Printer Sharing
Short on printers? Everyone in your house, office or classroom can share a single USB printer connected to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme Base Station. Or you can use AirPort Extreme to access an Ethernet printer connected to your office or school Ethernet network. Either way, you and everyone on your wireless network can print wirelessly.

Easy Setup
Setting up AirPort Extreme is virtually effortless. The AirPort Setup Assistant does most of the work for you, setting up your network, transferring the active Internet settings from your computer to the AirPort Extreme Base Station and configuring your computer to access the AirPort Extreme network created by the base station. Once you've plugged in the base station and the middle status light glows white, launch the software and just follow the instructions on the screen.

AirPort Extreme supports Rendezvous, the zero-configuration technology built into Mac OS X. Using Rendezvous, AirPort Extreme automatically recognizes the AirPort-ready computers in its range and links them together into a network.

Rest Easy — AirPort Extreme Is Secure
Whether you set up an AirPort Extreme network at home, at school or at the office, you want to be sure it's safe from intruders. Don't worry — AirPort Extreme has you covered. The AirPort Extreme Base Station comes equipped with a built-in firewall to help prevent unwanted access to sensitive data on your computer. It's also certified for Wi-Fi Protected Access, which greatly increases over-the-air data protection and access control on wireless networks.

  1. AirPort Extreme uses the 802.11g wireless standard. Accessing the wireless network requires an AirPort or AirPort Extreme enabled computer or Wi-Fi-certified 802.11b or 802.11g computer. Achieving data rates of 54 Mbps requires that all users have an AirPort Extreme or Wi-Fi-certified 802.11g enabled computer and connect to an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station. If a user of a Wi-Fi-certified 802.11b product joins the network, that user will get up to 11 Mbps and AirPort Extreme and Wi-Fi-certified 802.11g users will get less than 54 Mbps. Actual speed will vary based on range, connection rate, site conditions, size of network, and other factors.
  2. AirPort Extreme can extend the range only of an AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express wireless network.
  3. Wireless printing over USB requires Mac OS X v10.2.7 or later or Windows XP or Windows 2000 and a compatible printer.
  4. For use with Apple-approved antennas only. Antennas sold separately.
  5. Actual modem speeds lower; speed depends on connection rate and other factors.
  6. Weight varies by configuration and manufacturing process.
  7. Compatible with AOL 5.0 or later in the U.S. only. Simultaneous sharing of an AOL connection requires multiple AOL accounts.
  8. Support for WPA requires Mac OS X v10.3 or later. Use of Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) reduces the maximum number of network users.
