The SeriTek/2eVEN4 bundle includes one SeriTek/2eEN4 External Four-Bay Hot-Swap eSATA Serial ATA Enclosure and one SeriTek/1eVE4 Four-Port External PCI-X Serial ATA Host Adapter with eSATA connectors.

The SeriTek/2eEN4 four-bay hot-swap enclosure features the latest Serial ATA storage technologies and delivers unprecedented performance with cross-platform Macintosh and PC support. Utilizing an innovative backplane design with no internal cabling, the SeriTek/2eEN4 supports all Serial ATA hard drives including the newest drives with 3.0Gbps transfer rates as well as original 1.5Gbps Serial ATA hard drives.

The SeriTek/1eVE4 Host Adapter provides an easy and affordable way for Macintosh users to add inexpensive, high-speed storage. With four external shielded eSATA Serial ATA ports, each offering 1.5Gbits/sec performance, the SeriTek/1eVE4 provides the high bandwidth to meet the needs of performance-hungry applications. The SeriTek/1eVE4 is PCI-X compatible, permitting Power Mac G5 users to take advantage of the latest extended PCI technology while maintaining backward compatibility with older Power Macintosh systems.

Serial ATA Hard Drive Compatibility

Note: Some Hitachi Serial ATA hard drives are incompatible with the SeriTek/1eVE4 Host Adapter. This is due to a seldom-used Serial ATA feature called SSC, which is enabled on these hard drives. The SeriTek/1eVE4 does not support this feature. Newer model Hitachi Serial ATA hard drives should be compatible with SeriTek/1eVE4.

Other Serial ATA hard drives from manufacturers such as Maxtor, Seagate, and Western Digital do not have this feature enabled by default and are therefore compatible.

All of the Hitachi SATA drives offered by OWC comply with this SSC specification.
