Q: How do I tell what iPod I have?
A: If your iPod plugs in to charge via a cable at the TOP, you have a 1st or 2nd generation iPod. If your iPod plugs in via a DOCK CONNECTOR at the bottom and 4 buttons above the scroll wheel, you have a 3rd generation iPod and this battery will work fine.
