NewerTech
MAXPower eSATA 6G PCIe 2.0 RAID Capable Controller Card
What is eSATA 6Gb/s?
eSATA stands for External Serial Advanced Technology Attachment.
eSATA 6Gb/s (600MB/s) for external storage devices.
Future Ready Yet Fully Backward Compatible
The NewerTech MAXPower eSATA 6G Pro PCIe Controller Card is like a "performance assurance policy" as conventional hard disk drives and SSDs migrate to the SATA 6Gb/s standard. Installing the card now offers immediate speeds gains while making a Mac Pro or PC future ready for even greater speed gains. Like all good upgrades, the card doesn't leave the past behind. The NewerTech MAXPower eSATA 6G Pro PCIe Controller Card is fully backward compatible with PCIe 1.0 slots as well as previous generations of SATA 1.5Gb/s and 3Gb/s drives.
Port Multiplier Support
In addition to supporting any single or dual eSATA enclosure, the NewerTech MAXPower 6G PCIe eSATA RAID Capable Controller Card supports port multiplier enclosures to connect up to 5 drives into a single eSATA port. By supporting port multiplier enclosures, the NewerTech MAXPower 6G PCIe eSATA RAID can provide massive storage and increased data protection by connecting enough drives for protective RAID arrays such as RAID 1,10, & 5.
Adds Faster Than Factory Interface To Mac Pros
From faster backups and file transfers to high-end Audio/Video editing, connecting an eSATA interface equipped device to the NewerTech MAXPower eSATA 6G Pro PCIe Controller Card can take data transfer performance to an entirely new level. Optimally compatible with Mac Pro models and PCs with an available PCIe 2.0 slot, the NewerTech MAXPower eSATA 6G Pro PCIe Controller Card works with ANY eSATA interfaced equipped external hard drive or optical drive (NOTE: does not support port multiplier cases/enclosures.) to deliver significantly faster data transfer rates over the fastest factory equipped Mac Pro interface of FireWire 800.
What is RAID?
RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Drives. This means taking multiple matching drives and arranging them together to achieve a large storage space, high speed, data protection, or any combination of the three. The MAXPower RAID mini-SAS 6G-1e1i controller card supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 levels as well as supporting JBOD (SPAN and individual drive modes).
JBOD (Independent Drives)
Each drive appears independently with each drive presenting its stated capacity for use.
JBOD (SPAN)
Combines capacity of two or more drives of the same size without any RAID data distribution scheme into one logical desktop volume. Will also combine the capacity of varying size drives based on the lowest capacity drive in the set.
RAID 0 (Stripe)
Data is split into blocks over two or more drives at the same time for high speed and large capacity. This is the ideal RAID setting for demanding video production/editing.
RAID 1 (Mirror)
Data is written at the same time to two drives to provide a high level of data safety and redundancy.
RAID 5 (Stripe with Parity)
Data is Striped (RAID 0) while incorporating redundancy over three or more drives for the best combination of speed, capacity, and redundancy.
RAID 10 (1+0)
Data is Striped (RAID 0) over two Mirrored sets (RAID 1) of drives for fast redundancy.
RAID 50 (5+0)
Data is striped (RAID 0) over two RAID 5 sets to provide increased speed while maintaining redundancy.
NewerTech RAID Web Management Utility
The NewerTech RAID Web Management Utility is an easy-to-use web browser-based application to set up RAID arrays, manage connected drives, view storage health status, and view information about the connected storage devices.
